Best NBA offseason
76ers- Brought in a world class defender and nine time all star in Paul George as a free agent to support the duo of Maxey and Embiid. This is obviously good for the team as we know what PG can do when he’s healthy and he can be one of the best all around players on both sides of the ball. He will be able to create shots for himself as well as space to help create for Embiid and Maxey. He also provides defensive support that this team definitely needs, however, his and Embiid’s injuries will be a concern. They also drafted Jarred McCain with pick 16 who is a good perimeter playmaker as well as signing Caleb Martin, Eric Gordon, Andre Drummond and extending other key role players like Kelly Oubre Jr. Their offseason has been one of the best that we have seen, however we could be quick to judge this team and inconsistency in playing time from top players in Embiid and Paul George could derail their high hopes.
Knicks- The creation of the Villanova avengers has finally completed and the dream of many basketball fans has come true. Mikal Bridges joins college buddies Donte Divincenzo, Jake Brunson and Josh Hart. Bridges is a good defender and also scorer and his acquisition could push the Knicks over the edge that they couldn’t quite achieve last season. Bridges is most definitely a positive addition and to see how this team will put it together next season will be extremely interesting. Barring injuries they could have one of the best seasons in the NBA. This addition is along with already having OG Anunoby who is, along with Bridges, one of the best wing defenders in the league and combining them could be a lethal defensive matchup for this team combined with lethal shooting and creativity in Jalen Brunson. This could make them a title contender last year and this team appears to be the peoples team with no real main man other than Jalen Brunson but a group filled with camaraderie and who work for each other in order to win.
OKC- This young team was already on the rise last year and they are only going to improve more, along with their development of young players like Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams and Shai. They have acquired defensive experience in Alex Caruso which will give them a strong backbone to rely on during defence. They also signed the experience of Isaiah Hartenstein who could be an excellent backup centre as well as a good mentor for young centre Holmgren. This is all after finishing as the 3 seed last year and this team will be one of the best teams if not the best next season.
Celtics- The Boston Celtics were NBA champions and have maintained all of their players from last season. They have been at the top of their game in recent seasons so being able to run this team back is as good of an offseason as they could have wished for. They will be a top a lot of experts power rankings and for good reason, they will be an extremely entertaining team yet again next year.
Timberwolves- After an incredible year where Antony Edwards had the world believing Michael Jordan had taken over his body, the wolves have only improved. They traded for Rob Dillingham on draft night and it may of been the smartest decision they could have made. Dillingham is an excellent scorer and also playmaker who could become an amazing player in the NBA. He will combine with Antony Edwards in the hopes of becoming the best back court in the NBA. It will be easy for him to play as Mike Conley will be moving into more of a mentoring role allowing Dillingham to learn while he plays, like an apprentice and Conley the master.
Mavericks- The Mavs were also good last year and they’ve given Luka another scorer. The first ever 6 team trade that brought Klay to the Mavericks has provided Luka with another player to throw the ball too, except, it’s one of the splash bros. Kyrie and Luka will be hoping this experienced winner will be able to help them charge forward once again and hopefully win the title. Even if Klay doesn’t perform how he once did he is still an amazing player and the Mavericks will be hoping to push for the title next year.
However, there were some who haven't done as well:
Nuggets- All they have done is lose KCP, someone who was one of the best 3 and D players for them last year, and trade for Russ. Although the team are proven winners, I think a lot of fans would of been hoping for better moves than this and although the off season is not yet over I don’t think they will be making more moves or playing in that NBA finals at the end of last season.
Clippers- After bringing in James Harden last year, I think we would all of thought that the Clippers were hoping to compete in this season, however, out of the 4 aging stars of PG, Kawhi, James Harden and Russ. Only Harden and Kawhi Leonard remain. They aren’t the players they used to who can win a title without the additional help. They will not be as good as they were last year and it is almost impossible to imagine them being a playoff team. As always the clippers are managed appallingly and they will lose another golden era to no championships.
