United vs Fulham: Although Manchester United came out on top of the game it was not as easy as they would like you to think. Kobbie Mainoo is doing exactly what we all expected of him and has taken a step up this season. He was a top of all key stats like tackles won, successful dribbles and duels won. His creation for the attack and protection of the defence was so key to them being able to score that late winner to win the game as Fulham struggled to be creative when he was marking the ball. Then it’s also impossible to see past the brilliance of new signing Zirkzee who has proven himself as a good signing scoring the goal to win them the game after only coming on 20 minutes prior. United will be hoping to improve next game but the debut of a lot of key signings has shown fans they have a lot of good potential for this season.

Chelsea vs City: As always City were dominant in this game and their passing and creativity were unmatched by Chelsea. One of Manchester City’s key strengths is that as a team, they are together, they play for each other and they know what they’re capable of. Chelsea, however, similar to recent teams we have seen have no glue to stick the team together. Each player thinks they're the most important and that is why they struggled to beat City. Over 40 talented players but no comradery, which, makes it impossible to win titles. However, it isn't all bad for Chelsea fans as midfield talent Romeo Lavia was able to still have a strong game and it felt like he was everywhere when watching the game.

However, Lavia wasn't enough to stop the likes of Haaland. Doku’s cross to Bernardo Silva which was perfectly played to allow Haaland to score showed us that we still need to be scared of Manchester City and it isn't anytime soon that they will be slowing down. Brazilian youngster Savinho had a good game and Pep’s long-term answer to what they will do when their attacking talent leaves, showcased what he can do.

Arsenal vs Wolves: Arsenal win. We know who this team is now, they’re fighters and we also know they can win. Kai Havertz tapped a header in to kick off the scoring from a well-placed Saka cross, showing the fans how key Bukayo Saka is to their attack and creativity and then, 75th minute, Saka scores, shrugs, letting the premier league know he's here to have fun. Although nothing spectacular was expected of Wolves they definitely delivered on this expectation and allowed Arsenal to be all over them and put the game onto Wolves.

West Ham vs Villa: In this game, Villa showed West Ham how hard they are going to have to work if they want to get top 6 and play European football. Aston Villa were all over West Ham and despite their penalty, it always felt like Villa were the ones who were going to come out on top. Their midfield was strong and new signing Onana was able to bag a goal as well as impacting the game all over the pitch. This is also true for Tielemans who was linking up the play and protecting the defence in a similar way which is one of the key reasons they were able to come out on top. John Duran was also able to score against West Ham the team who have been highly interested in signing him this window.

Brighton vs Everton: Brighton are a top level mid table club and they proved that again this season. Everton’s form from last season has continued and it looks as if they will be in the relegation battle again. Brighton fans will be happy to see stars like Welbeck and Mitoma proving their worth on the first week of the season and will be hoping the team can continue this form. They were a competitive team last season making a push against the bigger teams in the league and will want this season to follow suit. For the Merseyside blues it wasn’t a nice view for the fans and I’m sure not many of them are happy. A red card, a terrible all round performance with a midfield that lacked creation and a defence that couldn’t keep up with Brighton’s exciting style of play. A stand out performance from Wieffer in the midfield will be exciting for fans of Brighton as he proved his worth through his passing and getting an assist in his debut to Mitoma.

As a neutral, this game was exciting as it set some expectations for those teams that have exciting storylines, Everton could see themselves dropping out of the Premier League for the first time in history but also the top division of English football for the third time ever and the first since the 1950-51 season and Brighton could see themselves fighting it out with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Aston Villa, West Ham and Newcastle for a top 8 position.

Liverpool vs Ipswich: This was exciting for both fans, Ipswich fans saw a team that for a period of the game was keeping up with a top team in the Premier League in Liverpool, however, this all came crashing down once Liverpool got into their rhythm. Diogo Jota reminded us all how class he is by tapping in the first goal of the game off of Mo Salah’s pass. We were also reminded of Trent and his incredible passing ability when, before Jota’s goal, he drove up the field into the box creating a chance for Diaz who barely missed out on cashing in on an incredible attack. Finally, Salah broke the first-day goal record by making it to 9 goals scored on the first day of the Premier League season. Liverpool fans should be proud of their team, transitioning from a long-time manager in Klopp to a new manager with different tactics in Arne Slot and the transition has been beautiful. Ipswich fans will not all be happy though, the team was able to keep up for a while but once they slowed down it was all over for them and the Egyptian King began to take over the game and ultimately that is what ruined their chances. If they were to win the game they needed to capitalise on the two close chances in the first half from Tuanzebe and Greaves.

Spurs vs Leicester: Spurs were creative throughout the game and had 7 corners within 20 minutes and were competitive on all of them and able to find Solanke. The creative style of Ange ball flowed in the first half and the passes were coming from everywhere and finding Solanke. Spurs’ passing was the clear dominant force in the game and it felt as if Leicester couldn’t touch the ball and were surviving by the skin of their teeth. However, after knocking for 29 minutes Porro opened the bank for Spurs this season after an incredible goal scoring season last year. An incredible cross from Maddison found Porro’s head perfectly allowing him to knock it home. The beautiful passing seen in the first half with quick passing within the box and within Leicester’s half continued in the second half however, Leicester were able to put the pressure on leading to a Jamie Vardy goal and there is never any doubt when Vardy is within the 6 yard box. A difficult injury came for spurs when Bentancur when down after a head collision, however, the substitution of new youngster signings allowed for them to prove themselves and Archie Gray and Bergvall made key decisions once they came onto the pitch that helped revive a spurs team that had started to lose the creative gas of the first half. Solanke’s debut was astonishing constantly on the edge of a goal throughout the game and on the edge of every chance, however, ultimately in the last moments it wasn’t him who reached the header that went a begging, but Richarlison. After a game full of chances for Solanke the cross that could of sealed a legendary debut didn’t reach him, however, for Leicester it was a real show of class and their determination to fight back.
