Manchester United vs Brighton: Poor game for United defensively, although there were signs of the creative team we saw against Fulham but, Brighton come out on top. Mitoma and Welbeck were good again with the first goal coming from a Mitoma assist, who pounced on a bad defensive error from Maguire leading Mitoma to have an easy pass and for Welbeck to capitalise poetically for his 100th goal against his former club. Milner should have capitalised for a second after a creative move from Pedro. Finally though United were able to get the goal after Diallo made a darting run and curled it into the goal, a player who Manchester’s Red Devils will be happy to see performing. However, Brighton were able to get one more when Pedro tapped in a header off of an Adingra pass capping off a 2-1 win for the Brighton boys. This form is impressive coming off of a 3-1 win against Everton and the question will be how long they can keep this form up. As long as they are technically sound and their players keep up this good form then I don’t see a reason they can’t keep it up and them putting pressure against the top teams might allow them to push for Europe.
Spurs vs Everton: Dominating spurs win proving their creative, passing style of football can work for them with 2 goals in 30 minutes. The first of the two coming from a screamer of a strike that curled into the corner from Yves Bissouma, his first for the club, on return from his club suspension after videos were leaked of him using nitrous oxide in a car prior to the season. Heung-Min Son was instrumental as captain as always and the second goal came when he chased down Pickford who made an error under pressure allowing Son to pick up the ball and finish easily into an open goal. A third coming at the 70th minute when Cristian Romero tapped in a header from a well taken Maddison corner. Fourth soon after when Van De Ven drove up the field to play Son into goal for a simple finish. Spurs were more creative and deserved all of their goals, however, Pickford could of done a lot better on every single one of the goals with poor attempts to save the ball, however, he was peppered with 13 shots and Englands number 1 cannot save them all.
Manchester City vs Ipswich: City, yet again, showed their dominance and the powerful force of Erling Haaland has returned. His goal tally has now reached 4 in 2 games played. Manchester City’s star creator in De Bruyne is back on top form and had an incredible game, along with Savinho. Pep’s creative tactics and the togetherness of the team were the difference maker. The top teams can’t deal with this team and it wasn’t a surprise to see Ipswich succumb to the pressure of the 4 time back to back champions.
West Ham vs Crystal Palace: Big win after a disappointing start to the season for West Ham beating city rivals palace. Their best players were evidently star forward, Jared Bowen, as well as Paqueta having a good game and Soucek scoring. West Ham were strong defensively with an outstanding game from Kilman who also managed to pick up an assist. Areola also made some strong saves but the strength of West Ham was that they were a brick wall in defence and most of Palace’s chances were incredibly defended. Palace looked creative but they clearly weren’t as good as West Ham who ultimately deserved the result that they got.
Aston Villa vs Arsenal: Disappointing for Villa who had more shots than Arsenal but ultimately Arsenal’s experience rang true and they came out on top. Yet again, Saka was instrumental and it’s hard to see him and Arsenal slowing down any time soon. The Gooners will be hoping that this year will be their year and they can finally beat Manchester City to the title. They’re starting to gel in a similar way to their title rivals and the team always seems to be able to out it together even when the squad is rotated with players like Trossard being able to step up always for the club. This is something he has become renowned for always putting up a good performance when he plays. It will be sad for Villa fans as they were dominating the game throughout the first half but weren’t able to beat the experienced reds of North London, however, I doubt this will be the end for Villa and it will be exciting to see what they can do next week.
Chelsea vs Wolves: An excellent game for the blues scoring six against Wolves which was a much improved performance than against last week. It will also be pleasing for fans to see that after a tumultuous week for the squad they have been able to battle through it. The attack was fluid and Cole Palmer and Madueke made light work of Wolves defence with Palmer picking up 3 assists and a goal, Madueke a hat trick of goals one of which was assisted by goal scorer Nicolas Jackson. The cherry on the cake of the week they have had is that the return of Joao Felix, as it is going exactly to plan and he managed to get a goal in moments after coming on. Pedro Neto, new signing was also able to pick up an assist and it was an overall exciting game for the team and a disappointing one for Wolves who do not look good so far. Chelsea fans will be hoping this form can continue because what an astonishing performance it was although their defence could be seen as weak with a few mistakes leading to goals, but that is the game of football.
